Certe Group Websites

While doing freelance web design in San Diego, I teamed up with MCS Solutions to provide a group of themed websites to a property management company, the Certe Group. Over the last year and a half, I have created a few websites for them and am in the process of developing a new theme to better accommodate the added features they have been requesting lately. Included in the designs are custom flash banners showcasing the property and amenities. In order to accommodate mobile devices and apple products, we will be replacing the flash elements with HTML5 and Javascript banners that animate properly across all devices.

I’m not one to just milk people for their money. I like to offer solutions, even if that means a full redesign and reintegration, if it means it will fit the company’s needs better and help provide a strong sense of branding and authority on the internet.

99Designs Website Contests

So I occasionally like to submit designs to places like 99Designs (it’s like eBay for designs, except instead of multiple people bidding on one item, it’s one client rating multiple designs – the best design gets the cash), and here was one case where I did a little splash page design for a video web app/website call AirCast Media. I didn’t win, but I like to think it was close. :)

I’ve had the privilege of working closely with a good friend from high school, Rayan Bouajram, for quite some time, and had the opportunity to help design Marcco Flood, US Window & Door, Guahan Grill, and others. I also provided WordPress consulting and training services for the development of Hacienda De Vega, which is currently still a work in progress.

Web Design Class 3

So here’s the last little school web project I’ll post here. This was a final project that was challenging us to use only CSS to lay out everything. Good thing that’s a lot easier than table layouts (the only reason I would EVER design a layout using tables is if it is for email marketing). I took this opportunity to go above and beyond what the class requirements were, and dropped in a JQuery carousel and a Lightbox for images in order to highlight my portfolio pieces. How do you think it turned out?

Web Design Class 2

Here’s another school project for a web design class I did. We were tasked with the challenge of redesigning a person’s website from a list of links and incorporating their current website content into the template. I chose Carol Murphy’s art portfolio, because it was most in need of a redesign and had some decent illustrations in it. Let me know what you think!

Web Design Class 1

During college, I had a few assignments to build full functioning websites to display our assignments. I took this opportunity to apply some of the knowledge I gained from working at AG Internet and make some fun little websites. I found I particularly like lighter colors and soft gradients, with subtle 3d effects from things like letterpress and single pixel color changes. I enjoyed these classes immensely.

Welcome!

Hi there! I’m Scott Hernandez. I threw together this website to showcase some of my online and print work, as well as to insert some of my own witty internet-sensation-like remarks on the world wide interwebs. As such, I hope things don’t get too serious, but if it’s design we’re talking about, go ahead and rip my stuff apart. I’m all for constructive criticism and I love discussing matters of opinion in the subjective field of web design and development. If you enjoy my rantings and various designs, why not drop me a line to let me know what you think of my work? If anything, I could even become your next star employee or business partner.

Cheers!
